Yesterday Monkey and I were watching Thomas & Friends.
Can I just interrupt myself for a moment to say that I find the new talking, CGI Thomas episodes are a bit creepy? I like the original!
Anyway, after the first episode ended we watched the interstitial program rather than skipping it. Monkey usually isn’t very interested in them. This time they showed the greyed out silhouette of one of the engines. Not anticipating an immediate response I asked Monkey, “Who is that?”
I knew he’d figure it out but at that point there were no details…no color, no number, no anything beyond the silhouette. Of course, Monkey responded with “Gordon.” I had to wait until the train color was filled in to praise him because I couldn’t tell who it was, lol.
I called Duhdee in and replayed the section so he could witness it. On a lark Duhdee asked him to identify all of the trains…of course he knew them all…even the random secondary characters I had to look up on Google.
Another aside, Monkey’s favorite engine appears to be Percy. His pronunciation of Percy’s name leaves a little bit to be desired, though. It sounds like he’s calling Percy…uh…another word for cat. We’re working hard to get that “r” sound in there 😉
