WOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!

For the first time in SEVEN long months….

MONKEY WALKED IN TO HIS CLASSROOM!!!!

I’m so dang excited that I’m blogging from the T. I just couldn’t wait!

****Edited to add****

Duhdee, after wiping away the tears of joy, went home and e-mailed the lovely, life saving Dr. G to inform her of our triumph and we received this response (names have been changed, duh):

HOORAY!!!! That is wonderful! Just one example of the many things Monkey will accomplish. Duhdee, you Umma and Monkey have done a fantastic job working together to help Monkey accomplish a goal. Keep up the good work!! Relish the victory this weekend!

She also cc’d the entire team at Children’s Hospital so we also received this from the program coordinator:

Congratulations! That is wonderful news! And a nice early Mother’s Day present too!

We are so lucky to have such awesome and supportive people cheering us all on.

That IS great news! I can’t imagine the heartache of having to leave him when he was so upset (we didn’t go through that). We were very fortunate with having great teachers who seemed to understand the needs of my boys. The same preschool teacher is still there, and I recently asked her how many more years of teaching she has left. She said, “Quite a few!” 🙂

We left school in tears on many occasions prior to Friday but finally, on Friday, they were HAPPY tears. It broke my heart to have to pry his little fingers off me every morning. Ugh.

The teacher really does have his best interests at heart but she has no understanding of FX. We’ve tried really hard to educate her but it was in one ear and out the other for the longest time. Dr. G has stepped in for us however and after a couple conversations the teacher seems to be coming around to the fact that she does need to alter her style to best reach him. We were ready to request a new teacher at his next IEP meeting but she seems to understand now so we’re going to give her classroom another shot. She told us flat out that we need to fight to get her more support from the SCHOOL. We can do that 🙂
