Just a jam packed day ahead here!

First, we need to get out and run.  We took a few too many days off while I was on vacation so now we have to stick to the every other day plan to stay on track.

Then, we are having a cookout with a few neighbors.  There are about 15 of us total.  I made cookies yesterday.  Duhdee needs to prepare shrimp skewers and veggie skewers.  Everyone is bringing something so we should have plenty of food.  Around noon we’ll start setting up tables, grills and the TV so we should be well under way by the time the Patriots game kicks off at 1.  Yay!  Go Pats!  Monkey LOVES football so that should be a big hit.

Sometimes we have trouble convincing him to go into the neighbors yard for these sorts of things but I think the Patriots will be a strong enough lure.  I doubt anyone is going to be able to hear the announcers over his screams of “Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Balllllll!” though.

I “was” a Pats fan, but the Colts made it fairly easy to switch my loyalty. I still cheer for them… as long as they aren’t playing the Colts!

*GASP* the COLTS? I didn’t think it was possible to like both 🙂

I know, kind of crazy! But, hey, I don’t have to deal with a lot of disappointments that way 😉

Very good strategy! I’ve never learned. I’m a long time Patriots and Red Sox fan. Disappointment is just an inevitable fact of life.

The transition from Pats to Colts wasn’t an easy one…it’s still kind of confusing!
I’m STILL a BoSox fan, although it’s kind of hard to follow them out here. Luckily, Indiana doesn’t offer any pro baseball. When I was in high school, I would spend my Saturdays in front of the tv watching them. I cried when Carl Yastrzemski circled around the park for his retirement goodbye. I also went to one of their games at Fenway and saw them play in N.Y. In my pre-teen years, I had a helmet that I would wear when I would ride my bike. I wish I still had it….it didn’t make it out here when my parents moved here, and I was in CA in the A.F. It’s just a nostalgia thing. (Yes, I was a bit of a Tom-boy!)
AND, while on the topic of sports, the 76ers were my basketball team (that was at the time of Dr. J). My mom LOVED the Celtics, because she’s originally from Indiana, and Larry Bird, blah, blah, blah. So I think that kept me from liking them, too. I just had to be different. She wasn’t into any other pro sports…just basketball. So, I really, really didn’t like the Celtics. Danny Ainge…oh, what a cry baby he was!
AND hockey! The Hartford Whalers…I went to a couple of their games…not really into it, though.
All this talk really makes me miss the East Coast! When we moved here, I was 21; it truly was a difficult adjustment. We haven’t been back in at least 3 years…we’re long overdue. My high school reunion is coming up in Oct., but I’m not sure if I’m going or not…guess I better decide soon!

I’ve never been much of a basketball fan, then the year before last I decided to teach Monkey the rules since he loves watching basketball too. I had to learn all the terminology and the players…I really knew nothing. I was so focused on the rules and terminology that I didn’t even realize that the Celtics were AWFUL! Then, of course, this year they rocked. Which was nice since I was finally paying attention to standings, lol.

We’re going to a game at Fenway on Friday! I cannot wait. I grew up listening to them on the radio with my mom. Until I made my first trip to Fenway that was my favorite way to experience the game. I wish we could go more than once a year…but it’s so hard to get tickets without paying a reseller outrageous amounts.
